A good roof is everything and our hats off to Conrail, CSX, and before all that the hard-working Buffaloians at the Buffalo Creek Rwy. for their 70 years of keeping the roof tight on this 40 ft bundle of joy before your friends at the Buffalo, USA Foundation got to it. Usually old box cars the first thing you got to do is patch a bunch of steel down at the frame where the roof leaked. Not so for us, and we're fortunate for that.

This month we are doing the evaluation, prep, patching, priming and painting to get the BCK 1424 back to her original silver, light refracting roof ahead of full repaint in the summer of 2026. Ohio St., just south of Silo City Row. Come say hello.

Tomorrow is the Buffalo Creek Railroad's 156th birthday, and we've got our measurements and identified the replacement product for the water damaged missing or otherwise unsolvent wood for the interior of BCK 1424. With the roof repaired and only awaiting a slathering of silver paint, we are ready for a springtime restoration of the interior wood to Pullman-Standard...standards.
