At what point did eating out turn into customers being expected to help cover payroll?

I paid for my food, the taxes, and the full total on the bill. That’s what I agreed to when I ordered.

I didn’t leave a tip on purpose—not because I’m trying to disrespect anyone, but because I don’t think staff wages should depend on customers filling the gap.

If employees aren’t being paid enough, the solution should be fixing wages directly, not putting the responsibility onto every customer who walks through the door.

I’m there to pay for a meal, not act as part of the restaurant’s compensation system.

I saw this sitting by the checkout at an old gas station and I honestly can’t tell if it’s a $100 gift card or a psychological trap disguised as a sign 😭

People keep walking up, reading it left to right like normal… then realizing the tiny instructions say to read it right to left.

Apparently one guy got so frustrated he said the store was “playing mind games,” which honestly feels accurate.

And the worst part? It literally warns you not to say it too fast… which somehow makes everyone want to say it faster.

I don’t know what’s happening here, but I don’t trust it.

Today was absolutely unreal.
The last ticket of the day was #260… and for humble folks like us, that number is mind blowing. ❤️

Tacos were flying out nonstop, orders just kept coming in, and at one point we even had to turn the phones off because the lines inside the store were wrapped up. We truly apologize to anyone we missed or had to turn away today.

We over-prepped.
We over-cooked.
Then cooked again.
And somehow by 6:45 PM… we were COMPLETELY sold out of everything.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Thank you for supporting two small family businesses, for being patient with us during the chaos, and for continuing to show us love day after day.

Days like today remind us why we do this. We’re tired, grateful, humbled, and already getting ready to do it all again tomorrow. 🌮❤️
