A country club in Lake Zurich called when their commercial walk-in cooler stopped holding temperature.
The culprit was a failed TXV - thermostatic expansion valve.
This valve controls refrigerant flow into the evaporator coil, and when it fails, the system loses the ability to regulate cooling regardless of how hard the compressor works.
It's a failure that can look like several different problems before you trace it to the valve.
We replaced the TXV and verified refrigerant flow and temperature recovery before wrapping up.
