It’s showtime once again! Come see me dressed as a homeless person, a sophisticated New Yorker, and the head of the house in a billionaire’s mansion. That’s right… I will be performing in Annie!!! The best part about it is that I get to be in the show with my talented daughter who will be making her debut in a human role (she was a dog in her first theatrical experience)! The show opens TONIGHT at The Theatre Company in Bryan and runs for three straight weekends! Don’t miss it! It’s going to be a fabulous production! Then… it’s straight back to the pottery studio I go!

Let’s glaze some bowls!! Empty Bowls is happening this Sunday at in Downtown Bryan from 12:30 - 2:30. This means YOU are invited to come purchase a handmade bowl AND have a meal of soup from one of our local restaurants all for $20 and 100% of that money goes to the Brazos Valley Food Bank to help fight food insecurity in our community. Me and the talented members of my studio have made over 100 bowls that we are donating to this amazing event. Now we need you all to come buy them. We can all make a difference. Stop by this Sunday at Blackwater Draw Brewing Company.

“In the depth of winter, I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.” – Albert Camus.
❄️
This is a teapot meant for friends. It holds 8 cups of water when full and pours like a dream. It feels like the time of year to gather quietly with people we hold dear. Now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays are past, I have been enjoying some moments of quiet with a cup of soul-warming tea. The Winter Solstice (which happened a few weeks ago) always reminds me to slow down and be mindful of the quiet and the stillness that comes in the winter. While the light has been slowly returning, the cold has settled in and I find myself reaching for more layers and planning the year that is to come. What will 2025 bring?

To make a teapot function properly, the piece must be properly balanced - this is especially important when making larger teapots. If the handle is not correctly positioned, the teapot could easily tip forward, spilling the steaming contents before getting close to a teacup. This balance may be found by having the peak of the handle form a 90 degree angle with the line of the spot. Additionally, the handle needs to be properly sized so that the person holding the vessel does not burn their hand, but also not so large that it looks awkward and upsets the balance of weight. Pottery requires more physics than it might initially let on. But when everything is just right… it’s magical!
