On a good day broiler field chores consist of moving their prairie schooner one space forward onto fresh grass, filling 8 to 12 buckets of feed in their feeders, and reattaching their automatic waterer hose to their pen. On a “bad day,” we discover half of the 10 acre stretch of field hose was chewed up by coyotes that we need to fix.🥴😅

This is Mabel (aka Mama Mabel), the matriarch of our little sheep flock and mom to the biggest lamb born this year!
As she’s the leader it’s her job in the rankings to protect all the sheep by alerting them of any predators in sight, and charging at any threat if needed!

We’re on a strict schedule to get our new layer flock moved into the hen house before colder (and wetter!) temps come in. Couldn’t ask for a better team to clean out, power wash, prep and lay fresh wood shavings with!💪😄 More eggs are coming! 🥚
