Quick actions and awareness made a real difference this Memorial Day weekend.

On Saturday, young Bentley Gearhart noticed smoke coming from a neighbor’s camper while playing outside. He immediately alerted his parents, who called 911 while his father began working to keep the fire under control until crews arrived.

The RV was parked less than 10 feet from a home, creating a serious risk for rapid fire spread. Thanks to Bentley’s quick thinking and the fast response from firefighters, the incident was contained before it could become a larger structure fire.

Great job by Bentley for speaking up quickly, and excellent work by responding crews for protecting life and property.
