Learning a different medium and thinking about art making in a new way has brought me so much joy ✨ So grateful to be able to experience clay and think about my practice through a new lens. This vessel project has sparked my creativity and I’ve found another way to express and expand the world that I’m building in my artwork. Sometimes stepping out and surrendering to a new process is what you need to keep moving forward.
Grateful for the Ceramics Fabrication team at for helping me through this new process.

Process is such an important part of my art practice. Handmade paper clouds, bedazzled faces, and painted feathered fluff all come together to make one image.
Collage allows me to open my eyes and see that any material can be composed into a painting if you train your eyes to see it. I hand make a lot of the textures in my paintings and source various materials from fashion and travel magazines, art supply stores, and local markets.
This painting is part of the first chapter of my series titled “The Sea is the Only Highway” and unfolds in the aquatic realm. The ethereal femmes in my paintings descend from the sky down into porous seascapes that create new gateways to an unruly elsewhere.
