"Our short is Center of a Circle by Alexander Kaluzhsky. This is about a writer, Jonas, who gets away to a cabin to work on his next book. He wants to write something about the disconnection in the world, something that confuses him seeing as everything is connected, needs each other, and yet people feel solitary, alone. He keeps to himself, mostly — dinner with the owner of the home he is staying at, but nothing really deep. He meets a young fan in the beginning, who searches for a connection, but it does not amount to anything — until, tragically, it does in the end. Kaluzhsky’s film is a shot at the Writer, the artist who sees all except what is right in front of him. Shot gorgeously in early Winter in what appears to be New England, Kaluzhsky’s film is a sobering look at humanity."
