My friend had asked me a week before, to 'make a taco affirmation next time' when i shared with her that i got the wrong tacos.. I took it in jest.. But on the first day picking Linden flowers this affirmation came thru loud and clear!

Also i tried to film and post a reel of the windblown tree.. to glitches and no success.. only to notice that my paper bag full of flowers was gone from next to me! The wind had blown it across the street but all the way between was a thin trail of sparkly yellow flowers that had falled out, showing the way.

The next tree I picked at immediately had two separate people ask me about it and start picking flowers with me, one with a 4 year old who loved it and stayed awhile.

As flowers bring out the full expression of a tree's personality.. with Linden i cannot have doubt that faeries may be involved.. beside fragrantly and colorfully enchanting, they seem to derive joy from causing a lil' trouble and surprise.

Anyway ;) the affirmation felt like it could be shared as it can apply to many things not just tacos 🧹🧚🏼‍♂️✨

Wasn’t sure I’d make Sweet Birch Balm again this year..
But on this full moon my elf instincts kicked in and before I could think was off to pick sweet birch twigs…👩🏼‍🌾
Best time of year to pick them is on a full moon in early spring, with the sap rising + before the leaves grow.

I made some perfume tincture too - a crystal like , sugared wintergreen smell. It’s colored neon green already! Can’t wait to test it out with different flower absolutes.

Sweet Birch (Betula Lenta) grows out of river rocks, has flexible branches and a sweet bright energy. The balm is great for irritated skin (has been used for eczema!), sensitive skin including babies + kids, also a mild pain reliever. One of our March specials!🍃

The inspiration for ‘Foodgasm on 14th Street’ as seen longingly from bakery windows. 👀

One of my favorite things about the city is trying out foods of various cultures while on my way somewhere. These cardamom and saffron buns make the world stand still with one bite, while crowds and traffic zoom by. Through conversations with staff I learned that the dough gets infused with spices overnight, and that Sweden is the world’s largest consumer of cardamom outside of India where it originates.

In addition to the memory of the scent and taste, this work captures a bit of the texture of the pastry, fluffy and buttery with crispy edges, a sugar glaze, and the sparkle of the spices. Featuring a unique ‘brick oven sourdough’ accord created in part by capturing the smoke of fresh bread.

LA friends ~ The Institute of Art and Olfaction presents a survey of works from Olfactory Art Keller NYC!

The exhibit is on thru 2/28 and the art reception is Sat 2/19 from 6-9 pm.

So grateful to have a piece in this show.
