Your extensions are an investment — treat them like one 💎 Here are my top tips after 25+ years of installing, maintaining, and saving extensions:

1️⃣ Brush from the bottom up — start at the ends and work your way to the roots. Never rip through from the top

2️⃣ Use a sulfate-free shampoo — sulfates strip the bonds and dry out the hair. Your extensions will last twice as long without them

3️⃣ Sleep with a silk pillowcase — cotton creates friction and tangles. Silk keeps everything smooth overnight

4️⃣ Never go to bed with wet hair — wet extensions + pillow = matting disaster. Always dry before bed

5️⃣ Use a leave-in conditioner — focus on the mid-lengths and ends. Keep them hydrated but avoid the bonds/tape

6️⃣ Avoid heavy oils near the roots — oil breaks down tape and bonds faster. Keep oils and serums on the ends only

7️⃣ Don’t skip your maintenance appointments — move-ups keep everything healthy and secure

⚠️ 8️⃣ AVOID SUNSCREEN ON OR NEAR YOUR HAIR — this is a big one! Most sunscreens contain Avobenzone (Butyl Methoxydibenzoylmethane) which reacts with minerals in water and causes extensions to turn pink, orange, or discolor permanently. It can also break down bonds and adhesives. If you’re at the beach or pool, tie your hair up and keep sunscreen away from your hairline and extensions.
