Remembering poet and Kamilah Aisha Moon on Poetry Month.

This photograph was taken in 2013 in November in an awe-inspiring space in DUMBO Brooklyn, NY. This was the evening of Kamilah Aisha Moon’s launch party for her poetry book “She Has A Name”.

After the speeches, and the readings by amazing guest poets honoring Kamilah and her master piece, the chairs were moved to the side and the carpet rolled up (so to speak) and it was on!

The food and wine was plentiful, the music was slamming, and we just simply had a good ole time!

I learned that evening that Kamilah loved dancing, especially with her sisters; and boy could they, and did they dance!

Kamilah Aisha Moon’s beautiful and calm, protective and loving spirit is sorely missed on earth.

May her spirit continue to dance!
