NYC freelancers, you have a deadline: Vote early starting tomorrow through June 21, or on Election Day itself, June 23. We encourage you to find candidates you believe in, but also ones who believe in you — who know freelancing is more than just a hobby, and that freelancers deserve the same rights and protections as any traditional employee. Find your poll site now at vote.nyc and register to vote by tomorrow if you haven't already. And of course — Knicks in five

While there might be a lot of unknowns right now — specifically around AI and the economy — one thing is for certain, and that’s that freelancers are excited to share resources, learn from each other, and to hold bad actors accountable. We couldn't have better proof of that than our Freelance Isn't Free Day, which brought together freelancers from all over the city, expert panelists, and MOME Commissioner Rafael Espinal, DCWP Commissioner Sam Levine, and Council Member Chi Ossé to discuss how we can create stronger protections for a world that's already moving towards the flexibility and independence of freelancing. Thank you to our sponsors at MOME, Ergo Next Insurance, and Metro Plus, and to The Loose Collective, Solo Health Collective, John Rudikoff, and DCWP for tabling with us.

Swipe to see pictures from the day, and head to the link below for our five biggest takeaways. Want to join us for our next event? You can find our full calendar on our site as well 🗓️

Happy Pride from the Freelancers Union 🌈 Now, as always, we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community, and are proud that our membership consists of so many q***r freelancers, who come to us with different experiences, different identities, and share with us their stories. Freelancers Union and our free co-working space at the Freelancers Hub are here to be a safe space for anyone who needs it, this month and all year-long.

Want to see Freelance Isn't Free passed in more cities and states? Us too — so let's work on it together. Swipe to find out how you can start to build support for a Freelance Isn't Free law where you live, and read more at the link below. You deserve protection from nonpayment, no matter where you live. It a multiyear process, and one that takes time and energy, but your dignity as a freelancer is always worth the fight.
