Quilting is often a highly precise, methodical process, requiring sharp angles and crisp lines. While that approach can create beautiful, intricate quilts, it can also be extremely daunting. For those who prefer a more fluid and naturalistic approach, there is another way.
Join us July 31st for Naturalistic Quilting, a virtual workshop with quilting artist Julius Arthur (). Combining appliqué, patchwork, and improvisation, we'll use natural landscapes and materials for inspiration to stitch layered, abstract compositions. This is a wonderful opportunity for new quilters to test the waters with a few less numbers, and for quilting experts to try a change of pace.

Join us in the TATTER studio for an exploration of the origins of color.
Natural dye expert Natalie Stopka (Natalie Stopka) will be teaching Plant Pigments & Handmade Inks on August 15th, using three botanical (and one insect!) dye sources. From these natural ingredients, we'll concoct pigments to transform into liquid gouache, perfect for dip pens or brushes. We'll also consider the history of color, from early dyes to today.
Participants will leave with their own set of handmade inks and the knowledge to continue expanding their rainbow of homemade hues. Every shade in your palette will tell a story through its rich, botanical color!

The Isle of Man is a small island in the heart of the Irish Sea, between Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. The first block in our Hand Sewn Quilting Series takes its name from the Isle's native Celtic people, the Manx.
In this virtual workshop on July 24th, quilting artist Aaron Sanders-Head (Aaron Sanders Head) will guide us through a folded Log Cabin or Manx quilt block, a uniquely textured and layered pattern. Traditionally, the pieces are torn instead of cut, and measurements are derived from the maker's hand for a personal and unique block. For those just learning to sew or quilting aficionados, this workshop offers useful techniques and a beautiful pattern to add to your repertoire.
