“Renaissance man”

Happy new year!
2025 is going to be a renaissance for me- so I’d like to kick start it with my first work of the year.
Michelangelo is my all time favorite artist and David is my favorite work by him. Among with several others, Michelangelo was one of the fathers of the Renaissance art movement.
I wanted to pay homage to him and create this work that also embodies my own Renaissance from painting into mosaic.
You can see how the cracked face reveals paint in the background. I’ve used a similar shading technique as I would when I paint my portraits.
This bridges the gap from my modern art with traditional mosaic art.
Just wait and see where I’m going to take this.
