🎹 Teaching piano is not about teaching notes.

One of my students — now 8 years old — has been coming to my home studio since she was 5. She’s currently playing what she proudly calls “Moon Light Sonatina” — her title for a modified version of Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata.

She’s intuitive, curious, and full of questions. She listens deeply, thinks critically, and expresses herself with such honesty — like in this poem she wrote at school about the feeling of playing piano.

“Feel the way your fingers fly like a kite across the keys without missing a beat…”

In a world where you can learn how to play piano from YouTube (yes — I’ve had beginners who came to me already trying Chopin Scherzos after watching videos!), the real role of educators isn’t just to teach technique.

It’s to inspire, influence, and nurture — to guide students toward finding their own voice and connection with music.

That’s what keeps this work meaningful. Every poem, every spark, every “Moon Light Sonatina.”

Received another "Business Hall of Fame!"
Our 🎹 studio was recognized with the 2024 Brooklyn Award in the Education category by the Brooklyn Award Program.

And since we have been selected more than three years in a row for the award, we are again recognized as the 2024 Brooklyn Business Hall of Fame.

In the press release, it reads:
