Celebrating Juneteenth.

We will be sharing photos from our recent shoot at Project Row Houses in Houston’s Historic Third Ward, one of the city’s oldest African-American neighborhoods. The collective of restored shotgun houses serves as the intersection between community and art. We were generously provided full access to the public facilities as well as the artist’s installations.

These photos were taken in the installation by artist Shavon Aja Morris. She approaches photography through collage, drawing inspiration from cultural publications and African-American memorabilia. “Through layered visual storytelling, Morris invites us to reconsider our understanding of womanhood, resilience, and society’s effects on femininity.”
