I am a DJ, not a content creator. I am interested in being a great DJ, not a great content creator. I choose to invest energy into growing as a DJ but have no interest in becoming a better content creator. DJing brings me joy and fulfills me, content creation does not. So, like many others, my posting frequency here continues to diminish (as do the returns when active anyway), with mostly updates happening as needed at .nyc. Content can be artfully created but it is not the art itself. It is data optimized and driven. It makes the creator twist and contort for viewership on a constantly moving goalpost. It is not owned by you once it is published. I make art. My mediums are: gatherings (communal, energy rinsing, centered on dancing), fanzines and books (interviewing, editing, curating, connecting), music (writing and producing), records (A&Ring, commercially releasing). When this app dies, its content will die with it but it will take none of my art with it. Been thinking of this a lot lately and it keeps me largely away from here. I thought it was worth a share.
