The New York State Homes and Community Renewal (HCR) is opening applications for Section 8 Project-Based Voucher apartments from Monday, July 13 at 8:00 a.m. through Friday, July 24 at 5:00 p.m.

Before the comments start, this is not the regular NYCHA Section 8 voucher waitlist.

This is for Project-Based Section 8 apartments. That means the rental assistance is attached to a specific apartment, not a voucher you can take with you if you move.

Applications are available for properties in the Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, and Staten Island. Some developments are open to all eligible households, while others are reserved for seniors 62 and older or other specific populations.

To apply, you must:
• Be at least 18 years old or an emancipated minor as the head of household.
• Meet the income requirements for the property you’re applying to.

Applications submitted during the open period will be entered into a random selection process for each property’s waiting list. Being placed on a waiting list does not guarantee you’ll receive an apartment, but if you’re eligible, it’s an opportunity you shouldn’t pass up.
