Off the Ring was the third single I released from In Reverse. Making this song was a crazy journey. I wrote it in May of '24, the line 'July came in with a lot of heat' was looping in my head in a dream and I woke up and ran to the piano to start working on it early one morning. I produced about 8 demos of it which were all boring the s**t out of me. Then I made an entirely different version with and everyone tracked on it. It felt very 70s soul country, the vocals were crooning, belting. But then as we got deeper into making the rest of the album, it felt really inconsistent sonically with everything else, it was not cohesive. So I decided to jump into the studio with Patrick Higgins and make the version that exists today. It was a really fun one to make. And maybe I'll release the other version someday who knows

Goldmine came out a year ago this month! It was the first single from my new record. I was very turned on emotionally, physically when I wrote in summer of '24; it was a real phoenix rising moment for me. It was the third song I wrote for this album, but it really informed the direction for production on In Reverse. Fun!
