Nobody tells you the fourth trimester is mostly this.

Not the bottles lined up perfectly. Not the matching outfits. Just you, half-awake, holding a person who only calms down on your chest.

The house is a mess. The laundry is a pile. You’ve second-guessed every decision since the hospital.

But here’s what I know the second time around that I didn’t know the first: none of the rest of it matters right now. Not the unfolded clothes. Not the dishes. Not whether you’re doing it “right.”

Be gentle with yourself. Be gentle with your partner. You’re both learning a person from scratch on no sleep.
This part is hard. This part is also the whole point.

Today I hold all of it at once. 🤍

The life my mother poured into me before I even knew what a gift that was. The two babies who made me a mother — who showed me a love I had no words for. And the ones I carried quietly, briefly, wholly — the babies I lost before the world got to meet them.

They count. They always counted.

Motherhood is not one story. It’s joy and grief holding hands. It’s the middle-of-the-night feedings and the silent losses no one sees. It’s every woman who has loved fiercely, lost quietly, and kept going anyway.

To my babies here — you are my whole heart. 🫶🏾🤍
To my mama — thank you for my life.
To the babies I’ll always wonder about — you are remembered. You are loved

And to every mother carrying more than one kind of story today — I see you.
