"When I look at something as simple as a t-shirt I see beyond the brand, beyond the color, and beyond the fiber content. I look into a world gasping for breath under the suffocation of consumptive industries. The shirt represents countless container ships, trucks, and planes excessively burning up oil. The shirt represents the road kill and marine life affected by the waste and pollution. The shirt represents “factories” more commonly referred to as sweatshops with the have-nots suffering at the hands of the knowing, unsympathetic haves. Is it my responsibility to carry all of that weight? But this is the time I am in. This is where it has been chosen that I exist and a system is not in place for me to make a change that I will see in my lifetime."
