Today is Juneteenth and, as Christians, celebrating freedom from slavery has long been something we've remembered and commemorated. In a similar way, this day reminds us of where our country has been and and the continued work needed to get where we hope to go...especially as those who serve the One who proclaimed his presence as the fulfillment of Jubilee: the embodiment of God's favor and complete deliverance for all. May we all continue to live with open hearts, minds and hands as we celebrate, lament and learn together. Amen.
