NCAA Volleyball is addressing a challenge that often happens away from the spotlight: the shortage of trained volleyball line judges.

The NCAA, RQ+, and PAVO announced the Volleyball Line Judge Initiative, a program designed to increase the number of trained and registered line judges for women’s and men’s college volleyball matches. Eligible college students will be able to register without paying NCAA Volleyball Central Hub or PAVO registration fees for the 2026 season.

The goal is not just to fill assignments. It is to create a stronger pipeline of trained officials by lowering costs, offering training resources, and recruiting students directly from college campuses.
Line judges may not get much attention until a close call happens, but they play a major role in match accuracy, consistency, and game flow.

The recruiting version of a coach is not always the full athlete experience. This first review for Miami of Ohio volleyball head coach Daniel Gwitt raises concerns about the environment, communication, and whether athletes felt supported once inside the program. 2aDays athlete reviews help future recruits look beyond what they are told during recruiting and pay attention to patterns, culture, and day-to-day experiences.

Some coaches leave an impact that lasts long after an athlete’s playing career ends.
2aDays athlete reviews of Susquehanna men’s lacrosse head coach Stewart Moan describe him as passionate about the game, experienced, well-connected, focused on academics, and committed to preparing student-athletes for life beyond college.

One athlete called him “a legend in D3 lacrosse.” Another wrote, “I don’t know if I learned more about life or lacrosse during my four short years of being around Coach Moan.”

That kind of feedback gives recruits a fuller picture of the coach-athlete experience. A great coach can develop athletes as players, students, leaders, and people.
