Films on this topic can sometimes be unsettling or graphic, but I hope this one succeeds in encouraging thoughtful discussions about sustainable and environmentally conscious options.

One of the biggest gaps in public understanding is how little information people receive about death, disposition options, preplanning, and the true costs of end-of-life arrangements. Because death is a universal experience, it deserves more open conversation and thoughtful preparation.

As a funeral professional, I will always be somewhat sensitive about how embalming is discussed. To some, embalming may seem toxic or gruesome, but unless you've cared for adults and children who have experienced significant trauma before death, it's difficult to fully appreciate the skill, and restorative beauty that embalming and restorative art can provide to grieving families.

I'm proud of my colleagues and the work we do. Funeral service is often viewed as mysterious which makes it easy for our profession to be misunderstood. Social media and documentaries often highlight the most extreme situations because they make for compelling entertainment.

My hope is that this film helps educate audiences while encouraging open and honest conversations about end-of-life choices. We should all feel empowered to talk with our families, friends, and funeral professionals about the options that best reflect our values, beliefs, and wishes.

At its heart, funeral service is about human connection and helping families celebrate and remember a life well lived.
