🥶🥵 The temperature is an important factor, so it should be well checked.🎚⏲
Temperature on site is critical to the success of floor coverings and related products (adhesives and levelers). We hear all too often when inspecting large projects with thousands of feet of new and problematic flooring, that permanent heat was not turned on for one reason or another during installation, and that no tests were taken to confirm temperature and other conditions on site were correct. This is when the group finds out that slab surface, ambient room and product temperature must all be within manufacturers’ guidelines to avoid issues such as product shrinkage after installation (excessive gapping) and or expansion (buckling).
In new construction, even when permanent heat is introduced, the temperature of the concrete slab will remain too low for installation, while ambient room temperature will quickly reach an acceptable 20c (68F). If outside temperatures are cold, the temperature of the exterior portion of a slab (balcony for example) can transfer and affect the indoor portion of the same slab. Suite direction (north verses south) will also affect warming times. Prior to installation, test the temperature of the slab at the perimeter, not just in the middle. www.nfca.ca
