A few years back I picked up 4 chairs for $2 each at a garage sale, right across the street from where one of the girls was attending school, at the time. I still remember the kids being a little embarrassed as I loaded those pink chairs into our suv.

Ella helped me paint them white, but one chair had a hole in the back. It made its way with us … from the garage, to the storage unit, then most recently to the curb (but only temporarily). Before someone else swept it up, I clearly came to my senses and brought it back inside.

I finally patched the back with some Mod Podge and music sheets, while Tucker slept, yesterday. The words on the music read: “…..they will all go free; Everything that was stolen shall be returned unto me, singing, dancing, praising, shouting, increase and victory. Thanking and praising because we are free.”

While my style may not interest everyone, it holds lots of meaning and memories for our family… working together, searching, and rescuing what others discard. A reminder that our God is our redeemer… He restores and makes things even better than before when we surrender our lives to Him.

Isaiah 61:3 “..to give them beauty for ashes..”
“This piece reminds me of how God turns brokenness into beauty. Just like this broken piece of china, our lives can be restored.”
