Honored to attend Chick-fil-A’s Celebration of Impact and grateful for their investment in the work happening at Bridgeport Rescue Mission. ❤️ Sarah McDonagh, Strategic Partnerships & Philanthropy Manager accepted the 2026 True Inspiration Award on Behalf of Bridgeport Rescue Mission.

S. Truett Cathy, the founder of Chick-fil-A, once said, “We’re not in the chicken business, we’re in the people business.” That spirit was evident throughout the entire evening.

Through their “Caring Through Food” initiative, Chick-fil-A is helping organizations like ours meet one of the most basic and urgent needs in our community: access to food with dignity and compassion.

At Bridgeport Rescue Mission, food is often the first step toward something bigger: healing, stability, recovery, housing, healthcare, and hope. Every meal served and pantry visitor is an opportunity to remind someone that they matter and are not forgotten.

We are deeply thankful for partners who believe in caring for communities not just through words, but through meaningful action. Thank you, Chick-fil-A, for helping us continue to serve our neighbors with nourishment, dignity, and hope.

On Friday, May 1st, Bridgeport Rescue Mission's founder Jim Watson visited the new facility at 725 Park Avenue in Bridgeport and toured the space for the first time. During the visit, he reflected on the Mission’s growth from serving meals out of a station wagon in 1993 to becoming a comprehensive organization providing meals, housing, healthcare, recovery programs, and life skills classes today. This milestone highlighted the power of community compassion and long term commitment, and we thank our volunteers, staff, donors, for their continued support.
