The goal was never just to create a beautiful room.
It was to create the backdrop for real life.

The kind of kitchen where everyone naturally gather. Where dinner turns into dessert around the island, weekends are filled with friends, and every seat has a story to tell. An open concept home should feel connected, inviting, and effortless. Beautiful without trying too hard.

The best interiors aren’t just designed. They’re lived in.

Would you ever leave?

This mountain home’s primary bath was designed to feel like a private spa retreat, with warm brass details, soft natural light, a freestanding soaking tub, and serene views that make everyday routines feel luxurious.

Step into this nature-inspired Appalachian oasis.

Designed as a retreat from the pace of everyday life, this home embraces the beauty of its surroundings through natural materials, abundant light, and thoughtful design. Warm wood finishes, stone accents, and expansive windows blur the line between indoors and out, creating a space that feels deeply connected to nature.

✨ A few interior design myths I’d love to clear up…

One of the things I hear most often is, “I didn’t realize how much an interior designer actually does during a build.”

The truth is, the pretty finishes are only a small part of the job.

At Kateri Jane Designs, we see ourselves as advocates, educators, and problem-solvers throughout the entire building process.

🏡 Myth #1: Interior designers just pick paint colors and furniture.

While we absolutely help create beautiful spaces, much of our work happens long before furnishings arrive. We review plans, think through functionality, coordinate details, and help ensure your home supports the way you actually live.

📏 Myth #2: Hiring a designer is a luxury that adds cost.

A thoughtful design process often helps clients avoid expensive mistakes, rushed decisions, and costly changes during construction. Planning well upfront saves both stress and money down the road.

🛠️ Myth #3: The builder handles all design decisions.

Builders are experts at building homes. Designers help bridge the gap between construction and everyday living—thinking through lighting, layouts, storage, flow, materials, and all the details that make a house feel like your home.

🤝 Myth #4: A designer tells you what your style should be.

The goal isn’t to create my home. It’s to create yours. The best projects happen when I listen first, understand how you live, and help bring your vision to life in a way that feels authentic to you.

Relationships and good communication are at the forefront of my process. My favorite part of this work isn’t selecting finishes—it’s helping local families make confident, informed decisions about one of the biggest investments they’ll ever make.

Because great design isn’t about making things look expensive.

It’s about making home feel intentional.
