“In their native Germany, all dachshunds are called teckels, and dogs of all coat-type and size are used for hunting – flushing and retrieving game, tracking wounded animals and for finding, bolting and despatching vermin,”

Meet Finley. AKA Sniffer Bob! She is a two year old Teckel. Finley will be my tracking partner for the 2025 Deer season. I didn’t intend on Finley being my sole tracking dog for this season but Maya’s unexpected passing has put Finley in the starting lineup. I’m excited to watch her work as she has a drive to track and a great nose to lead the way! She successfully completed her UBT1 certification this past March. I expect we will make some hunters happy this fall with recovered deer! If you’re in need of help recovering your deer, give us a call!

Good luck this season to all hunters!

It is with a heavy heart we had to say our good byes to Maya this past Tuesday morning. She passed away due to health complications unfortunately. She never got a chance to get into her prime tracking deer. However she has laid the groundwork for myself and team to continue to learn and improve in all aspects of tracking. I will still be tracking this coming fall with a new dog I’ll introduce in a seperate post. All I got! Have a good one every one!

As you may or may not have noticed we’ve been away from this page for quite some time. Life’s been busy and very challenging as of late so I thought I would give an update.

This past month we have had Maya into a few different vets trying to figure out what is going on with her as she has had a bad cough for quite some time and the prescribed meds were not helping. With further testing it has been determined that she has a heart condition. Going forward she is too avoid strenuous exercise and lay low. Sadly, with that said she will no longer be tracking for the public. It absolutely breaks my heart to know she can’t do the one thing she loves the most, that is, tracking deer. If there is one lesson I can take from tracking with Maya it is too always “Trust the Dog”.

Now where does that leave myself going forward you may ask. I’m not hanging them up, I will still be tracking next fall with a dog I will introduce at a later time. All I got. 👊🏼

Been slow the last few weeks but got a call tonight for a track. Maya did her thing and helped recover this buck for a hunter!

Take a look at my point of view running Maya on a practice track. This is towards the end of the track when the deer (deer hoof is used on practice tracks) is recovered.

Been a few weeks since we ran a practice track. Hot and humid conditions today, 800 yards. Not a problem, deer recovered!
