Happy New Year Bowlers ! And it's been a busy one, so far, and it doesn’t look like it will slow down any time soon.
So now that half of our bowling season is over, I hope you all have something good to talk about. It's a long season, that's for sure, but after all of these years of bowling I guess it's like a job....you just get used to it.

I'm very happy to report that some of my students have had some great successes over the last couple of months, even having one lady, who had a bet with her husband, beat a target he thought she'd never see. It cost him to have to wear a TuTu the next week of bowling for the whole night ! So be careful who you bet against and even what you bet ! To those of you that have had those successes, my hat is off to you and I'm extremely proud of you.

Today, I've put up “OVER 20” new articles that cover a wide range of subjects. There are new articles under every category, so check each one out. Some of them will get very deep and may require a second read. There are a few bowling writers that do extensive research for their articles and go into depth about the subjects they write about. Many articles are food for thought while some of them should be reminders of something you may have learned long ago and forgotten about. Always keep an open mind about some of them, as they may not always apply to your game, but once in a while a situation may pop up where you might be able to use that tip.

Be sure to look at the spares category, because, yes, here we have yet another spare shooting system !

That's all I've got right now, but if there's a certain subject you'd like to get info on, please email me and let me know. I have hundreds and hundreds of articles covering just about every subject on our sport. If I don't have it, I know where to get it.

See you on the lanes,

Bob

Hello Bowlers......
I'm happy to see that these bowling tips have now reached many parts of the world, including Peru, Russia, Japan, Australia, Canada and several countries in Europe.

We’ve now gotten through the first quarter of the season, and I imagine as many of you may have, what in the world have they done to the lane oil patterns? Getting frustrated on bowling night now is a common occurrence and it makes you yearn for the old days when we only had rubber bowling balls.

With that in mind, I’ve just finished posting 21 new articles which include, dealing with the mental part of the game, the physical part and added a few for the Senior bowlers. In the coming days, I’ll be posting more on lane conditions, spare shooting, and other basics in Keys to Your Success. Be sure to check them out. These articles apply to all levels of bowlers, and at a minimum, is a very good refresher course.

The one thing we all have in common, is trying to figure out why we may have had one or two good games and possibly fallen on our sword for the third game. And it always isn't just the last game; sometimes it may be the middle game or even the first. The answer is never easy, but here's some questions you need to ask yourself.

1. What was I doing correctly the one or two games that were good, versus what I did or am doing right now in this bad game?

2. Did the oil transition effect what happened or is happening?

3. Did I miss the transition and the chance to make some sort of a change, either moving my feet, my target, or maybe it was a line change to the pocket that was needed? Or was a ball change called for?

4. Did I lose concentration, i.e. was my mental game going away? Did I get distracted?

And there are more that I could come up with, but the answer usually lies in at least one of those above. It happens to all of us and hopefully not on a weekly basis. But where does the answer lie?

The information that I post, in the various aspects of our sport, are written by some of the worlds best bowling writers, who by the way, have been or currently are, excellent bowlers themselves. Combined, I would guess that there are hundreds and hundreds of years of experience between them all, in every facet of the game.

You can read them once and say to yourself, "Oh, I know about that.", and within a matter of hours forget every word you read. But how many people will remember what they read the next time they go to practice or bowl in a league or tournament? Will you/they remember the tips and tricks they read about?

It's doubtful everyone will remember everything they read unless they take that information or tip to practice. Many bowlers that take the time to practice may remember and actually try some of the things they read. And certain tips may not work for everyone, but you should always at least give some of them a try. Who knows? Maybe one or more might be the key that opens up some new insight on how to adjust to changing lane conditions, or possibly let you understand why you lose the bubble on your second or third game? Or possibly it's a physical aspect in your delivery you might be able to fix.

What I'm trying to get across to all bowlers, regardless of whether you're new to the sport or have been bowling for half a century, everyone at one time or another gets into one of those situations where you seem to run out of options or are just completely stumped on what to do. These tips, hopefully, will help you fill your "bag-of-tricks", when situations like these arise.

Read them, then read them again at a later date, make notes that you stuff into your already overstuffed bowling bag, and bring them with you when you practice or bowl in your league(s) or tournaments. These tips can & will help you.

There are several new ones that I've posted. Do yourself a favor and spend an hour or so reviewing them. They are there to help you achieve higher scores.

See you on the lanes,
Bob
