**STORY TIME**

The other day, I was holding Carter while on the deck and the rain started to pick up. As I prepare to go inside, clearly frustrated over it raining every other day for the past 3 weeks, Carter reaches out towards the edge of our deck. She usually loves to play with the wind chimes, so I decided to let her for a little bit. This time, instead of the wind chimes her tiny little hands go for the falling raindrops. She raises them as high as they can go. We stay there for a good 10-15 minutes, maybe more. And right behind her, my eyes started to rain (if you get the movie reference you’re a real one) because in that moment, as she was learning about nature and soaking it all in (literally), God was showing me something as well through this beautiful moment. How to slow down and breathe, cherish each moment for what it is and find beauty in the little things. You know, feel the rain on your skin (*cue Natasha Bedingfield* alright that’s enough pop culture references for this post). The message couldn’t have been more perfectly timed, because to be completely transparent with you all, up until recently I was more or less going thru a season of burnout. I’m sure there’s a song for me to write myself in all of this, and I’ll keep you posted on that. But you saw it here first.

Anyway all that to say that this past week we celebrated my precious little girl turning 1 year old. I’m already about to have another little man to man chat with Father Time about moving too fast.

Carter Blair Perry, being your dad is among one of the absolute greatest joys of my life. As I said, watching you grow and learn new things is also teaching me so much. Your giggles and smiles, the way you interact with nature—I don’t think there could be any clearer evidence of God’s grace in mine and your mother’s life. I pray every day that you one day personally experience His grace and love for yourself. I love you more than life itself, sweet girl. Happy birthday!
