Music Ranch Radio
Kalyn Beasley performed a great set at the Tune Up bar in the basement of the Armory hotel last Thursday night. In my opinion, he's the singing poet of Black Dirt Music, the music of the northern tier where we live clean, speak without accent and the women are all beautiful. Everything from "Ranchin' Rich" off his new album to "Hell on Women and Horses" songs that paint a picture of the West, now and back then when life was a little tougher than today. He's part musician, singer, poet and historian, a rare combination that makes for a night of interesting, humorous and memorable listening. He's great on stage, has a personality, and can deliver a song so you believe it. Highly recommend you tune in to Kalyn, buy his music pretty much anywhere online or go see him in person. And listen to his music on Music Ranch Radio, the free-range internet radio station and home to Black Dirt Music, the music of the Northern Tier! Peace.
Just listened to Eric Church's fine song "Kill A Word" on musicranchradio.com Wow. And I thought the modern protest song was a thing of the past. I think this song stands out among the thousands of mostly mediocre songs floating around in the music universe today (you know the ones "Long brown legs hangin' from the back of my pickup truck while I fell into the campfire stone drunk from drinkin' uh, Too Much Whiskey, yup" those songs. Sure they make a lot of money for someone but somewhere someone's mother is thinking "WTF did I teach that kid. Shoulda bought a new outfit instead of that geetar." Just kidding, but back to the subject, "Kill A Word" is a beauty of a song and Church does it justice. You can hear it on Music Ranch Radio, 24/7/365 morning noon and night, tune in, drop out and drop me a line letting me know you're listening. In the past hour I've also listened to the Doobies "We Won" Jeff Plankenhorn (he's great btw) and right now Ringo Starr singing "Let's Change the World". Oh man, life's good. Peace.
