Meet your new SDSU Small Ruminant Production Extension Specialist!

Ryan Spurling serves as the sheep and goat specialist based in Brookings. He grew up on a family farm in mid-Missouri raising sheep, cattle and goats and growing row crops. Ryan completed his PhD in Animal Science at Utah State University where he worked with range-based sheep producers to optimize mineral supplementation and nutrition of sheep.

Ryan is passionate about the sheep and goat industries and excited to work with producers here in South Dakota!
