In honor of 49th Annual National Weatherization Day, we'd like to highlight the dedicated and selfless workers of the Weatherization Assistance Program ( ), and the incredible benefits the programs provides for its recipients.

Weatherization workers work tirelessly throughout the year in various types of weather and housing conditions to provide clients with more air-tight, energy efficient, and healthy homes. They attend countless hours of training to ensure their skills and practices are fine-tuned and that their weatherizing efforts are scientifically sound and health conscious.

The Weatherization Assistance Program provides weatherizing services to low-income families and individuals and their homes at no cost to them. Many of the clients of the WAP program include senior citizens, veterans, people with disabilities, and families with children.

We're offering a NEW Energy Audit training and certification pilot program in partnership with Montana Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ)!

This pilot program will educate attendees in energy auditing and information needed to challenge the Building Analyst Technician (BA-T) exam through the Building Performance Institute. The BA-T certification exam is a practical test using blower doors and other diagnostic equipment.

Why offer this program?

The DEQ Energy Bureau is charged with the development and implementation of the Montana Home Energy Rebates Program. One of the major areas of emphasis in the Program is the development and support of trained and certified, Montana-based residential energy auditors to drive residential energy conservation markets forward in Montana.

The Rebates Program will not only increase demand for residential energy services by offsetting costs of energy modeling and efficiency upgrades for participants, but also help increase access to and defray costs associated with auditor training and certification through the Building Performance Institute (BPI).

Who should take this training?

• Montana-based individuals and businesses interested in Building Performance Institute (BPI), residential energy auditor training and certification.
• Private contractors/Builders
• Home Inspectors
• Employees of energy efficiency programs
• Anyone looking for a future career in the home performance field
