What say you?

Hunters?
Individual Guides?
Outfitters?
I’ll bet each has a different answer… let’s hear it!

"How much should I tip my guide?" It's the most common question in every hunting camp. And most hunters get it wrong.

Whether you're booking your first outfitted big game hunt or your fifteenth, the tipping question never gets easier. Too little and you risk disrespecting someone who worked dawn to dark to put you in position. Too much and, well, that's rarely the complaint.

Greg Ray, founder of Outdoor Solutions and one of the most connected booking agents in the outfitting world, hears this question more than any other. He and writer Steve Wagner break down the real economics of guiding and what your tip actually means to the people behind your hunt.

We’d rather you come work for us, but this is cool too… I guess 😁

FWP JOB POSTING - Hunting Access!

Are you looking for a job working independently in the outdoors this fall?

Are you interested in working with hunters and private landowners to promote and protect hunting opportunities in central Montana?

Montana Fish Wildlife and Parks is currently seeking three hard-working outdoor enthusiasts to serve as Hunting Access Technicians in Region 4 during the upcoming fall hunting seasons. Technicians typically work alone in remote areas interacting and assisting hunters and landowners who are enrolled in the Block Management Program.

From the duty station in Great Falls the incumbent will be assigned to one of the following areas of FWP Region 4: Cascade, Lewis & Clark, Pondera, and Meagher Counties. Housing may be provided in some locations, and starting pay is over $22 per hour.

This is a great opportunity for anyone looking for work experience in the wildlife field, and to possibly get a “foot in the door” and started on a potential career path in resource management. Best of all, its fun way to spend several days a week working with hunters, landowners, biologists and game wardens, all while exploring and working in some of the best hunting country in Montana.
