Kara addresses how homelessness affects students and discusses how education can be a "silver bullet" to prevent homelessness. She challenges communities to rally together to support, teach, and nurture homeless students toward stability. Kara is a dedicated professional with the Davis Education Foundation, the nonprofit fundraising arm of the Davis School District in Utah. She oversees grant writing, student fundraising, employee giving campaigns, and contributes to research, data analysis, and policy development. Passionate about supporting students in need, Kara focuses on the Foundation's initiative to establish Teen Centers—resource hubs in high schools that provide homeless students with essential services like showers, laundry facilities, academic support, and guidance toward graduation and post-secondary success.

When is the last time you saw a kind act between strangers? Kindness is contagious and all of us have the power to be kind to others, producing happy consequences. Tom is a husband, father of two, and TV and Film Producer. He is a new resident of Bountiful and grew up in Texas. His most recent and ongoing work is being the Executive Producer on the TV Show Random Acts for BYUtv. His company, London Road Productions, is based in Bountiful. He loves to swim with his kids, read, travel, and of course play pickle ball. Tom actively believes that “Kindness is hard. Criticism is easy… We should choose the hard thing. We should choose to practice kindness and gratitude. It is better for our health, our families, and the world!” This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.
