I’m a paraeducator at Mapleton. I love working with children and encouraging their natural curiosity and creativity. I’m from New York and moved to Boulder in 1995. I have a 19 year old son who is studying engineering in college (I miss him!). In my free time, I like to ski, hike, paddle board, travel and spend my summers at the beach with family.

Today, please meet Ms. Gina!
"My name is Ms. Gina, and I'm the early childhood special education teacher in the Autism Intensive Learning Center (ILC) classroom. I love teaching preschool because I get to encourage curiosity, celebrate little wins every day, and watch kids discover the world in their own unique way! I'm originally from Boulder and went to CU. Go Buffs! When I’m not at work, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Jason, our two kids—Kaia (8) and Luca (5)—and our dog, Bodie. I love to play games, do puzzles, ski, snowboard, play soccer, listen to music, and read."

Today, please meet Ms. Raquel!
"I am the School Social Worker at Mapleton this year. This is my 15th year in BVSD, and 14th year working in ECE. I love preschool and I am so lucky to be here!
I have my Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver, and a Masters Certificate and Educational Leadership for Compassion and Dignity Practices. I am a current Doctoral candidate for a Doctor of Social Work.
I am originally from Costa Rica. I have a daughter who is 5 and we have 3 dogs! My mom is very important to me, and a passionate advocate for people with disabilities. Thank you for taking the time to read about me and it is an absolute honor to work with our students this year!
