I have some bad news.

I won’t be doing the Gunbarrel Commons Food Truck Parties any longer. There are a number of reasons for this below, and I apologize.

If anyone would like to take over, please let me know and I will train you. (I believe you have to own property at the five complexes that pay dues to the park, but let's chat regardless.) I have trucks lined up so if you jump on quickly before they rebook those dates, you’ll be well on your way.

• My father is not doing well and I need to be available on a moment’s notice to fly home. I don’t have the emotional bandwidth to deal with the parties. I am very close to and adore my father, so I will be a mess when he’s gone.
• The decisions around Covid are just more than I want to deal with for another year: Deciding on a month-to-month basis whether it’s safe and appropriate to have the event; The idea of having to play mask-police and pi***ng people off or the guilt if the parties contribute to spread.
• I’ve been hosting the parties since 2011 (for free). It began when I lived in Powderhorn and had plenty of friends in the neighborhood to sit and visit with during the events. In 2016, I moved to Niwot (still own a Powderhorn rental) but continued to do the parties because I enjoyed seeing my friends (and Truckies), and I knew how much the community loved it and didn’t want to let anyone down. But now most of my friends have moved. During the last season of FTPs, I often felt alone in a crowd as none of my friends were there to sit with.

I'm sorry to say, there will be no Food Truck Party in September either.

On the one hand, I can’t meet the Colorado guidelines (even though they don’t seem to address our type of event, there are so many guidelines I can’t meet…I usually have about 200 or so guests).

On the other hand, having been accosted by a dozen anti-maskers in Grand Lake, and I don't want to deal with guests who might act the same way nor police the crowd.
