🎤 Speaker Spotlight: Kasrah Eslami & Monroe Roush

Talk Title: Concrete Opportunities: Embodied Carbon in the Public Sector

As cities like strive toward ambitious net-zero goals, addressing the challenge of embodied carbon in public infrastructure has never been more important. From asphalt to concrete to steel, how can cities reduce emissions while still meeting infrastructure needs?

Kasrah and Monroe, both graduate students in Masters of the Environment, CU Boulder Graduate Program, will share their insights into Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, highlighting the challenges — and opportunities — for sustainable public works.

🌱 About Kasrah: With a background in solar project management, Kasrah is dual-specializing in Renewable & Sustainable Energy and Urban Resilience & Sustainability. He’s focused on pairing renewable energy and embodied carbon solutions to help cities grow equitably while cutting emissions.

🌱 About Monroe: Monroe’s background includes supporting municipalities with economic development strategies and fiscal health assessments. Now pursuing her MENV degree in Renewable & Sustainable Energy, she’s passionate about helping communities decarbonize while creating resilient futures.
