🚨 Breaking: A federal court has blocked the Trump administration’s attempt to move NCAR’s supercomputing facility out of Colorado.
As a CU Regent, I understand how important institutions like NCAR are to Colorado’s research community, economy, and national leadership in science and innovation.
Efforts to dismantle, privatize, or relocate world-class research assets threaten opportunities for students, researchers, and the partnerships that help drive discovery across our state.

The Rainbow Pride Flag was raised on Pearl St Mall today to kick off Pride Month against the backdrop of uplifting live music. Rocky Mountain Equality Center Director, Mardi Moore, spoke of Boulder and Colorado as safe havens for the LGBTQ community at a time when it is becoming increasingly dangerous to live peacefully in many parts of the country. She also reminded us of the last three Supreme Court decisions, originating in Colorado, that weakened LGBTQ protections.
A fourth lawsuit from Colorado will be before SCOTUS early next year. (Our next Attorney General must have the experience and chops to defend Colorado! No one more capable or prepared than Michael Dougherty!) Mayor Brockett reviewed the city’s long history of advancing LGBTQ rights and its ongoing collaboration with progressive communities in America.
DA Mike Dougherty reaffirmed the commitment of his office to protect and defend LGBTQ civil rights, elevated by the Community Protection Division with a dedicated focus on Bias and Hate Motivated Crimes, established under his leadership. Former Boulder City Councilman and community leader, Bob Yates, reminded those of us that when non LGBTQ+ individuals leverage their social safety to protect those without it, they transform passive empathy into a shield for human rights. Amen, Bob! Happy Pride Month, everyone!

Early bird at the Boulder Farmers Market get the best bread and a chance to talk with voters! I had the pleasure of catching up with my friend Jamie from Meadows Mobile Home community. We had a great discussion about the transformation of living conditions in mobile home communities since my landmark legislation passed establishing a complaint division for these homeowners at the state level and giving them a pathway to purchase their communities from corporate landlords. As CU Regent, I will bring that same focus and determination to advancing the best interests of CU students!

Many thanks to The Post in Longmont today for hosting a Meet and Greet for Attorney General Candidate Michael Dougherty, Rachel Friend Boulder County Treasurer Candidate and my campaign for CU Regent. Blustery weather brought us indoors where candidates improvised on the usual format by doing a round robin with tables of our guests. It created a great opportunity for deeper conversation. Remember: Ballots are mailed June 9th and the Primary is June 30th.
