January Coffee
05/01/2026
This May 1st, we celebrate the 4th birthday of January Coffee. It’s been a wild journey — at times, a tumultuous and bumpy ride (to say the least), but ultimately a story of resilience and love.
What started as two longtime coffee industry people who shared a passion for tasting yummy things and serving others, has evolved into something so much greater than ourselves. Our vision was to create a space where we could share this passion with people like us seeking a safe place to exist without judgement, to enjoy and be with others… more than just a place, but a refuge. A refuge for real human experiences when we can feel so disconnected sometimes.
Safety and stability are so very needed in times of great uncertainty, and we can feel the pendulum is swinging in the other direction... something about this year feels different for us. Despite all of the conflict, division, and corruption in the world, this community that surrounds us has given us something to celebrate and work hard for. It’s as important as ever to fight for each other and not lose hope when things feel so heavy and daunting… especially for those of us who feel marginalized or not seen sometimes. Seeing ourselves represented in others, whether it’s a person or a place is an intangibly valuable experience. For us, that feeling is personal.
January Coffee is for all of you, and we wouldn’t exist without any of you. Thank you to our family for investing in us, thank you to our vibrant team (past and present) for all of their contributions, to our local and industry communities for building us up and showing your love and continued support over the last four years, especially when things got rocky. Thank you for believing in our vision, and thank you for believing in us. We love you.

Stay tuned for the announcement of our belated birthday party later this month when the time feels right. This weekend we’d like to congratulate our upcoming CU college grads, including one of our own! (Yay, Brandon!) Stay safe out there this weekend. We’ll see y’all for a celebratory treat. ☺️

Reminder! Tonight we are hosting this support group in our space for members of our community who are feeling impacted by recent and current political events.
The session is from 6-7pm, but if you’d like to stay for a little bit afterwards, we will be building ICE Ready Kits with materials provided by other local community members. We look forward to connecting with you. 💕

There was overwhelming consensus among all of us here at January Coffee to close up shop this Friday, January 30th in solidarity with the nationwide economic strike. We will be outside serving hot coffee from 7am-12pm and demonstrating against the actions of ICE. We want to honor Renee Good and Alex Pretti and all of the lesser-known individuals who have been victims of ICE’s state-sponsored violence and the oppressive actions of this administration.
Our staff will still be paid regular hourly wages for the day we are closed, but if you would like to contribute further to the barista tip pool, you can donate to this Venmo: .
We encourage everyone who can to participate in the strike on this day! If you must shop, shop at small businesses and avoid big corporations like Target or Amazon. We are fortunate that we are able to close for the day, but recognize that other small businesses much like ours cannot do the same, so show them your love and support.
