Boulder City Council approves 4% police raise over union objection 08/18/2025

Seems like a tone-deaf decision on the part of the Council. How many dollars are wasted annually by misguided spending decisions? Council needs to focus on services that positively impact everyone living in or visiting the city.

Boulder City Council approves 4% police raise over union objection On Aug. 7, Boulder City Council voted unanimously to provide Boulder police a 4% salary increase instead of a 6% increase.

Last night the Boulder City Council met with the City Manager in a closed executive session to discuss the findings of an independent arbitrator. At issue was a disagreement between the police officers union (BPOA) and the city over pay and health care. The arbitrator had ruled in favor of the police union.

Without allowing a representative from the BPOA to be present, Council met with the City Manager for nearly an hour. When they emerged council quickly, and unanimously, voted against the BPOA and disregarded the findings of the independent arbitrator.

Now if that doesn’t stink to high heaven…
