Congratulations to Vincent Malotaux and co-authors on our recent publication in the Journal of Prevention of Alzheimer’s Disease JPAD! 🌟

In this study of the Colombian PSEN1 E280A Alzheimer’s kindred, we show that blood biomarkers reveal a clear sequence of disease-related changes years before symptoms emerge. Aβ42/Aβ40 changed first, followed by p-tau217 and GFAP, which were also strongly associated with early cognitive decline. These findings highlight the potential of plasma biomarkers to track disease progression and monitor treatment response in autosomal-dominant Alzheimer’s disease. Check it out! 🧠

Culturally relevant measures are essential for early Alzheimer’s diagnosis, and our recent study by Nadeshka J. Ramirez, BA, Isabel Solis, PhD and colleagues marks an important step forward. 🤩 In Spanish speaking older adults from the Boston Latino Aging Study, the LAS-PACC5, a literacy adapted cognitive composite, showed strong performance across memory and overall cognition while clearly distinguishing impairment. These findings highlight its promise for early detection and for advancing Latino representation in Alzheimer’s research.

Many thanks to all participants and their families for their invaluable commitment to research, and congratulations to all co-authors. Check it out!

Do s*x differences influence white matter vulnerability in autosomal dominant Alzheimer’s disease? Our new paper in Brain Communications suggests they do, revealing distinct s*x-specific patterns of microstructural alterations in ADAD mutation carriers linked to brain pathology and structure-function coupling. Check it out!

Congrats to Averi Giudicessi and co-authors for getting this work published! 🤩

Did you know women are disproportionately affected by Alzheimer’s? In the U.S., about two thirds of people living with Alzheimer’s are women, and roughly 1 in 5 women over age 65 will develop the disease compared with about 1 in 10 men. Women also make up about 60 to 70 percent of Alzheimer’s caregivers, many of whom are daughters or spouses caring for family members. Because of these responsibilities, female caregivers often experience higher rates of chronic stress, sleep problems, and weakened immune function.

This International Women’s Day, let’s take a moment to recognize the women affected by Alzheimer’s and the many caregivers who support their loved ones every day 🧠

Congratulations to Christopher Gonzalez-Corona and the .mapplab and teams on getting our recent study on the web-based Latin American Spanish Face–Name Associative Memory Exam (LAS-FNAME) and blood biomarkers published in Alzheimer’s & Dementia: Diagnosis, Assessment & Monitoring. Take a look!
