Congratulations to SLIS dual degree student Castel Green ‘28MSMA, who was named a recipient of the London Center for Community Engagement and Social Justice’s 2026 Judith Botelho Commitment award this May!
The award, which recognizes a student who has exhibited outstanding commitment to community engagement across multiple years, reflects Green’s dedication to service within the Simmons community and beyond. A volunteer with Providence Swings, the Community Libraries of Providence, and the National Archives and Records Administration, Castel has driven education-centered community programming through their work as a graduate assistant with the Simmons Multicultural Center, and has combined their passion for community building with their studies in archives and history as an intern with the Wanderground Le***an Archive/Library.
“I think the biggest way that my service and community engagement has connected me with my academic and career goals has been in giving me the opportunity to learn from established people in my field,” Castel says. “I have been involved in a very diverse set of projects, and that has allowed me to see the many aspects of library science and archives management that I love.”
Please join us in congratulating Castel!
