My heart goes out to the Afghan people for all we have put them through and the mess we left behind. Especially the women. Many have deactivated their social media accounts for their safety. Here are a few who live outside the country whose voices we can amplify as a way to offer our support:
Mariam Wardak - analyst and advocate for gender inclusion in Afghanistan and co-founder of Her Afghanistan

Munaza Shaheed - journalist, writer and anchor for Voice of America and co-founder of Her Afghanistan

Seventy of his enslaved and free Black neighbors traveled through Southampton County, Virginia, freeing enslaved people and murdering their enslavers. The rebellion was put down within a couple of days, and hundreds of Black Virginians were murdered in retaliation. Because Turner was educated and considered "well treated", one reaction was for states across the South to pass laws making it a crime to teach enslaved people to read and write. Full access to quality education has remained a battle ever since. Education = liberation.
