Black elders are facing a crisis of food insecurity—experiencing hunger at nearly four times the rate of their White counterparts. Nationally, Black households are more than twice as likely to struggle with food insecurity, and for older adults, the disparities are even more stark. Among Black elders with incomes below 130% of the poverty line, nearly 40% face food insecurity.
This is a reality impacting the health and dignity of our elders every day. Through our Elder Wellness & Care program and the support of our Boston Resilience Corps members, we’re delivering nutritious groceries, essential resources, and in-person wellness visits to over 130 Black elders and families in Boston.
Your donations can help us sustain and expand our work. Join us in ensuring Black elders receive the care and resources they deserve.
