Martin, author of “Fandom for Us by Us: The Pleasures and Practices of Black Audiences” among other books, will deliver a talk on Black and gay fan practices surrounding the legendary series THE GOLDEN GIRLS, with episodes to be screened at the start and a Q&A moderated by Associate Professor Dr. Ken Feil to follow

This September, the SOF held its second annual College Day in collaboration with the Boston Film Festival and Warner Bros. Television.

Students enjoyed an exclusive first look at IT: Welcome to Derry (streaming October 26) and heard from Oscar-winning production designer Paul Austerberry and Oscar-nominated costume designer Luis Sequeira, who shared behind-the-scenes insights into their creative processes and careers.

Q&A with Carter to be moderated by Emerson Assistant Professor Dr. Hunter Vaughan’s VM 644: Environmental Media Studies students

Casey Carter was a 2021 NYSCA/NYFA Film/Video Artist Fellow, a 2019 Points North Fellow, and a 2017-2018 UnionDocs Collaborative Studio Fellow. His work as project director for Maya Lin’s “What Is Missing?” Foundation won the 2023 Webby Awards for Best Activism Website as well as Best Navigation/Structure for desktop and mobile websites. His interdisciplinary background (BS in Physics, BS in Photography, M.Arch, M.S. in Design Health) informs his work across media, art, and design.
