It only took 7 days to set the first half of the cross laminated timber (CLT) modules for IDCubed's workforce housing building in Montana. This project is the first large-scale CLT building in North America.

To prepare for this, the foundations were built with precision - perfectly level and to exact dimensions. The modules arrived on site with finishes and fixtures pre-installed. We exposed the CLT on most walls, providing for a beautiful and durable natural finish.

IDCubed is proud to announce that the first large-scale modular mass timber project in North America is under construction in Big Sky, Montana. Comprised of 120 cross laminated timber (CLT) modules, this project will provide high-quality, affordable housing for 96 workers.

Our use of precise mass timber components in a modular process, reduces the number of parts by 80% as compared to conventional modular production. This dramatically decreases labor needs and shortens the time of construction, while delivering exceptional quality.

IDCUBED designed the building as well as the processes of module fabrication and building assembly on-site.

The project would not have been possible without the involvement of two exceptional collaborators: Highline Partners and Kalesnikoff Mass Timber. Highline has been outstanding in managing everything on site, from foundation work to the highly organized system of storing and setting modules, and the final assembly of the entire project. Kalesnikoff produced all modules with a high level of quality and precision.

We invite you to follow along as we progress on this groundbreaking project towards a more sustainable future in housing development.

Integrated Design Cubed (IDCubed), a US-based company, was founded in 2022 by architects Peter Rose of Peter Rose + Partners and Andreas Krawczyk of NKBAK, with Justin Cook of the RISD Center for Complexity, and manufacturing partner Christian Kaufmann of Kaufmann Bausysteme GmbH

IDCubed integrates the processes of design, supply-chain management, fabrication, and the assembly of modular mass timber buildings on-site.

We produce affordable, sustainable, high-quality modular mass timber buildings at scale, using a highly efficient process that requires 80% fewer parts than conventional modular construction, dramatically reducing labor and build time.

We aim to make buildings and processes that address the two critical challenges of our time: affordable housing and the climate crisis.
