Part of NEMPAC’s Artist Series, Hey It’s O.K. (Opera & Kundiman) brings together Filipino art song, opera, and musical theatre for a unique cross-cultural concert experience. Performed by Duo Filipino—soprano Lauren Florek and baritone Carlo Bunyi—with pianist Marcelline Merrill, the program features kundiman, sarswela, and beloved Western classics.

A special shout-out to co-creator and soprano Lauren Florek!

Filipino-American soprano Lauren Florek brings authenticity to a wide range of musical genres. Recent roles include Frasquita in Carmen, Queen of the Night (cover) in The Magic Flute, and Deb in Ordinary Days. In 2023, she recorded her debut album Sing a Song of Seasons by Robert Rogler at GBH’s Fraser Performance Studio.
