250 years ago tonight, right here in Charlestown, something amazing happened. A brave man named Paul Revere rowed across the dark Charles River from Boston to Charlestown. He came here because it was safer — the British soldiers were in Boston, and Charlestown was filled with people ready to help the fight for freedom.

When Paul Revere got to Charlestown, he borrowed a fast horse and rode off into the night. His job was to warn everyone in the countryside that the British soldiers were coming. Because of his ride, the towns around Boston were ready to stand up and fight the very next morning.

Charlestown was the first stop on Paul Revere’s famous Midnight Ride. It was the place where courage, quick thinking, and teamwork helped spark the American Revolution.

And the best part? We still live in the same neighborhood where this history happened 250 years ago tonight.
